Middle Tennessee Sitework Contractor
Land Clearing. Excavation. Grading. Demolition.
Buffalo Machine Co. self-performs site development for builders, developers, and property owners across seven Middle Tennessee counties. Raw ground to build-ready: clearing and grubbing, mass and fine excavation, pads, drainage, demolition, and erosion control.
Services
Land Clearing & Grubbing
Full clearing and grubbing. Trees, brush, stumps, and root mat removed, hauled, or processed on site. Lots, road corridors, and acreage.
Excavation
Footings, foundations, crawl spaces, basements, and utility trenching. Mass excavation with haul-off or on-site placement.
Grading & Building Pads
Cut and fill to plan. Pads built in compacted lifts, slopes and swales shaped to drain, grades checked before turnover.
Demolition
Residential structure demolition with haul-off and disposal handled, including basements, slabs, and flatwork.
Sitework & Site Development
Gravel drives and roads, ponds, trails, and full site packages taken from raw ground to build-ready.
Erosion & Sediment Control
EPSC installation and maintenance. Silt fence, construction entrances, inlet protection, and stabilization.
How We Work
We work as a subcontractor for builders and general contractors, and direct for developers and property owners. Same process either way: the scope gets priced from the plans, the schedule means something, calls get returned the same day, and the work matches the proposal.
On every job
- Utility locates called in before any ground is opened.
- Topsoil stripped and stockpiled for reuse where the plan allows.
- Dirt quantities figured with shrink and swell, not square-foot guesses. We balance cut and fill on site where the grades allow, because export is the most expensive line on a dirt job.
- Fill placed and compacted in lifts, not dumped and bladed off.
- Erosion controls installed before disturbance and maintained through the job.
- Grades checked against plan with rotary laser before a scope is called complete.
- Positive drainage when we leave. The site sheds water, it doesn't hold it.
Qualifications
- General liability insured at $1M per occurrence, $2M aggregate. COI sent same day on request.
- TDEC certified in erosion prevention and sediment control (EPSC Level 1).
- Bids from plan takeoffs. Lump sum or unit pricing, clear inclusions and exclusions in writing.
- Self-performed work. Your job doesn't get brokered out and marked up.
- References from recent projects available on request.
Equipment Sized to the Scope
Machine class gets matched to the takeoff. A 30-ton excavator on a 13-ton job burns your money in freight and fuel; a machine too small burns it in hours. We run owned and rental iron so every scope gets the production rate it needs and nothing it doesn't.
That's the cheapest way to move dirt: the right machine, the right number of passes, no idle iron on your invoice.
Service Area
Based in Nashville. Projects outside these counties quoted case by case.
